CHAPTER EIGHT

MIRACULOUS EVENTS

 

Jesus did not like miracles because they sent the wrong message. Nevertheless people thronged about Him and claimed they were healed simply by touching the hem of His garments.

 

M'r:5:30: And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

 

Lu:6:19: And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

 

Lu:8:46: And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

 

Virtue is “moral goodness” and to say that it left Him each time a miracle was claimed is stating that miracles depleted Him in this way. Moral Goodness leaves Him because miracles don’t just happen. There is no power of magic available that can perform miracles. To claim a miracle is to perjure oneself against the Holy Ghost. Perjury is wilfully telling an untruth or making misrepresentation while under oath. We are always under the oath of the Holy Ghost.

 

M'r:3:29: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

 

M't:12:32: And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

 

Lu:12:10: And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

 

In the above verses we see that to perjure against the Holy Ghost is unforgivable. It is the worst of all sin. This is because claiming miracles reflects a belief in gods that have power to perform miracles and of course this is a lie. There is no miraculous power and as we stand naked before god we should realise that there is no god.

 

Jesus spoke out against signs and wonders. He was pressed by the Pharisees to show them a sign that He was the Messiah

 

Joh:4:48: Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

 

M't:12:38: Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

M't:12:39: But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

 

He knew that signs and miracles sent the wrong message. The truth is that no signs can be worked and neither any miracles. To claim signs and miracles flies in the face of truthfulness. Those who profess signs and miracles only deface Christianity’s credibility. Idolatry produces such empty confessions as stated miracles and those who would sell miracles and advertise miracles only do harm to their own reputations. Jesus spent all His energies promoting truth and truthfulness. His whole ministry was worked through the Spirit of Prophecy and the Spirit of Truth.

 

Re:19:10: And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

 

Jesus said that we are as gods, and this is also stated when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of good and evil.

 

Joh:10:34: Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

 

Ge:3:22: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

 

Jesus was not dull or slow when it came to giving people insight into their heritage of God. He called God His Father in heaven. In fact every reference He had for God was a reference to His Father. He went on to tell us that we should do the same. We should adopt God as a Father in heaven rather than imagine an omnipotent god seated in a place called heaven handing out miracles.

 

Joh:1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

 

Ro:8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

 

God was always reached via an adoption of the doctrine and principles taught by Jesus Christ.

 

Ro:8:15: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

 

From an early age Jesus used such terminology. When He was about twelve years old He was lost from His parents and was found talking with the doctors and they were all surprised by His knowledge.

 

Lu:2:49: And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

 

He said this referring to God’s business as His Father’s business.

 

There was one other way of becoming a son or daughter of god and that was through the Baptism. Jesus described to Nicodemus;

 

Joh:3:1: There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

Joh:3:2: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Joh:3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Joh:3:4: Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Joh:3:5: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Joh:3:6: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Joh:3:7: Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

 

The Baptism is a rebirth. A person must be born again in order to adopt the spirit of god. This is true but Baptism is also a death. The person must be cut down in the spirit in order to be purified so that no idolatry remains after the rebirth.

 

Ro:6:3: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Ro:6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Ro:6:5: For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

 

Here is a timely place to mention the resurrection of the dead. Jesus spoke of the resurrection freely giving us the impression that it is something which happens after death. What is hidden is the fact that this speaks of the spiritual death not the physical death of the body. It is said to happen when we are baptised because if baptism is done correctly, we are slain in the spirit when we are told of the mystery of god. We are buried (submerged under water) then we are raised up (resurrected) to a newness of life having a new outlook on God and a new appreciation of Jesus.

 

1Co:15:21: For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

 

M't:22:29: Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

M't:22:30: For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

M't:22:31: But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

M't:22:32: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

 

Ro:6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

 

Jesus never baptised anybody even though the scripture says He would baptise with fire and the Holy Ghost.

 

M't:3:11: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

 

M'r:1:8: I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

 

Lu:3:16: John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

 

Joh:1:33: And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

 

And here we see that Jesus did not in fact baptise any person.

 

Joh:4:1: When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

Joh:4:2: (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

 

Jesus never spoke of His earthly Father Joseph and neither did He speak of His earthly Mother Mary. When asked by the apostles to include his mother this was His response;

 

M't:12:47: Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

M't:12:48: But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

M't:12:49: And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

M't:12:50: For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

 

Jesus healed the sick and said to those he healed ‘Tell no man”. Again we touch on the miracles and Jesus’s reticence to perform them. Nevertheless He does suffer the sick to come to Him.

 

M't:8:4: And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

M'r:7:32: And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.

M'r:7:33: And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;

M'r:7:34: And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

M'r:7:35: And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

M'r:7:36: And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

 

In the above mentioned miracle Jesus is said to spit and put His fingers in the man’s ears and touched his tongue during the cure. What we need to know is what this symbolism means by way of the spirit of prophecy in order to discover what really took place. It is plain that He is using the spirit of prophecy in telling the patient the truth and the mystery of god which is often enough to please the patient.

 

Jesus often uses spit (water) in his cures. An example of this is included in the following miracle.

 

M'r:8:23: And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

M'r:8:24: And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

M'r:8:25: After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

M'r:8:26: And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

 

It is clear that Jesus is using metaphor (men as trees walking) and again the use of spit (water) as a necessary part of the cure. Again he instructs the patient not to tell anyone the secret (which is that God does not exist, the atheistic truth) which He used in the cure. This is all part of the mystery of god which promote the veil or clouds of heaven.
