CHAPTER NINE
THE HOLY GHOST
A ghost is nothing. It is merely the shadow of someone or something that has long since vanished.
When we come face to face with our spiritual nakedness and discover that we are orphans of god we are left feeling empty and vulnerable and sometimes even angry over what we have lost.
M't:12:43: When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
M't:12:44: Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
M't:12:45: Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Lu:11:24: When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
Lu:11:25: And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
Lu:11:26: Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
We are left with nothing more than the ghost of the comfort we once cherished. But Jesus says do not fret as He will send another comforter.
Joh:14:16: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh:14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Joh:15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Joh:16:7: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
From the above verses we learn two things that the comforter is the Holy Ghost and that it is also the Spirit of Truth.
The Bible is a book of truth. This is undisputed. We use it in our courts to swear upon so that we will not perjure ourselves. But the whole truth is not always visible to our understanding. It is hidden to a large degree because of the fear of the nothingness left behind when we eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil as did Adam. This is the Holy Ghost which we fear. It is only possible to sense the Holy Ghost when we have become orphans of god and have been made Fatherless through atheism. Spiritually speaking, this is pure religion as described by James.
Jas:1:27: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
The Holy Ghost is the knowledge that there is no such thing as god. We are gods; and no person has ever seen anything like a god ever; that the Word was in the beginning with god and that the word was god. These are all things that Jesus taught us.
Joh:4:24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Lu:17:21: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Joh:10:34: Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Joh:1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Ro:8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Ro:8:15: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Joh:1:18: No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Joh:1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Holy Ghost is this atheistic insight. It is what slays us in the spirit before our baptism. If we are not slain in the spirit for baptism then we do not die in the spirit and cannot claim to be dead in the spirit or dead with Christ for the baptism to take hold.
Ro:6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Ro:6:7: For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Ro:6:8: Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Ro:6:9: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Jesus was said to have been the first born of the dead. The dead are those people who do not know the truth about god. So we see there are two distinct deaths; the first death and the second death. This is the first death to become atheists. The second death is the physical death of the body.
The first death offers us the resurrection of the spirit through the Baptism we rise in newness of life.
Re:2:11: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Re:20:6: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Re:20:14: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Re:21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Jesus said “let the dead bury the dead” implying that the dead were those people who fell under the umbrella of worshippers. Obviously dead people can’t bury other dead people, He intimated that His view of dead people was that they were actually alive but were spiritually dead not knowing the truth.
M't:8:21: And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
M't:8:22: But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Lu:9:59: And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Lu:9:60: Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
They are not orphans and have no idea that they are naked in the face of god. This becomes confusing when we start talking of Baptism and the death of the spirit when we are slain by the Holy Ghost as stated below.
Col:1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Re:1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Hence we are also born of the dead when we are baptised. The death as already stated above is a spiritual death; a realization that god does not exist at all. All we are left with is this truth. We can now appreciate all truths in all things including science and religion alike. This is because we have a new comforter even the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of Truth, to lead us through the valley of the shadow of death.
