Is Jesus Christ The Son Of David?

A straight forward answer will say yes Jesus is the son of David for the scripture says “There shall come forth a rode of Jesse”.

Isaiah 11v 1

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

So many scriptures testify that Jesus is called the root and offspring of David.

Hey! Let’s use spiritual common sense here, who is the real you? Who you say you are or who others say you are? I don’t know of you my brother but anyone can call me anything they want, who and what I call myself is what count. Do you know that the Jews called Jesus son of David when he asked them whose son is he? He replied them with another question “if I am the son of David, why then did David called me lord”, quoting David;

Psalms 110 v 1

A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Here Jesus made it clear that he is not the son of David.

Mathew 22 v 41-45

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

Now you have a choice to hold on to what Jesus said about himself or what someone said about him.

Don’t rush I have also read Revelation also “I am the root and offspring of David” do not forget John saw this vision and heard those words;

Revelation 22 v 16

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

He is one of the Jews that believe Jesus is the root and offspring of David. Sometimes Jesus relates with us based on the knowledge of him that we have.

For example: If all you know about him is your saviour that is how far he will relate with you, if you know him as your healer, he will tell you many things about healing, if you don’t believe in healing no matter how close you are to him, he will not interfere, if you don’t believe in financial prosperity, no matter how many visions of him you do have he will not talk to you about financial prosperity.

Remember how the Lord Jesus explained the Law of Jews in his days. He told them some things are written in the Law because of the kind of people they are.

Mathew 19 v 7-8

They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

Prophet Moses never gave the children of Israel any law from his own mind, he was a faithful man, and he only gave them what God asked him to give them. So technically, it’s God that gave them the law. If God could give this kind of law because of the kind of people they are, then Jesus Christ can relate with anyone of us based on who we are and the truth is Jesus Christ relates with us based on whom we are and how much we know Him and willing to know Him more. Here is another reason many ministers have different laws and doctrines and yet the Lord is not angry with any except it has gotten to extreme. A minister that does not believe in miracles will never hear Jesus talk to him about miracles even though he hears from Him every day.

Before we continue, let us diagnose what Jesus said while he was on earth and what he said in the book of revelation.

Jesus Christ –If David then calls him Lord, how is he his son?

John –I am the root and the offspring of David.

Now we will need to find out if truly Jesus Christ is the son of David who is interpreted “The root and offspring of David”.

Let us go to the birth of Jesus Christ.

The lord Jesus Christ was born of a Virgin, before he was born; Prophet Isaiah had prophesied that a virgin shall conceive.

Isaiah 7 v 14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Mary the mother of Jesus Christ was a virgin when the Angel of the Lord visited her, immediately she believed, the Holy Ghost overshadowed her, that is; incubated on the Word, then the baby Jesus took residence.

Luke 1 v 26-35

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Jesus is the result of the Word and the Spirit of God, the same situation with Isaac.

Jesus of Nazareth is the child born of a virgin; he is 100% child of the Living God by reproduction. Or better still you can call him Child of the Holy Ghost. His very life came from God and not man. So it is clear that he is not the son of Joseph who is of the lineage of David but the son of God. Since he is not the son of Joseph, he is not the Son of David by birth. Since he is not a biological Son of Joseph, it proves that he is not a Jew; he was not born by a Jewish father. Though Mary his mother is a Jewess, we cannot use the lineage of a woman to judge the origin of a Child. The lineage of a child is through the biological father. No wonder Jesus said; “I am from above”.

John 8 v 23

And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

Jesus Christ is not an Israelite, he is as universal as God, he is not a tribal person or a citizen of any earthly nation, he is a native of His Father; God Almighty and wherever God Almighty is from, is where Jesus Christ is from. From his Word, he said; “I am from Above”. So let us maintain it like that. Brothers and Sisters, Jesus Christ is a Citizen of Above.

The life of a child comes from the father not the mother. The woman belongs to the man as she takes on the name of the man. The lineage of a child is traced by where the father is coming from because the life of a child comes from the father. The life of Jesus came from God, so he is from above. Jesus Christ is the son of God, his lineage is from God. God is not a citizen of any earthly nation; all the nations and families on earth belongs to him. This makes Jesus the head of all nations, he is not head of one nation, He is head of all nations.

I believe this is clear enough. I have shown you clearly what Jesus says and what the prophets said, the people and John. I have also made plain how Jesus was born. It is now up to you to choose what to believe. Let us now move to what is next now that it is clear that Jesus is not an Israelite. Since he is not an Israelite then it is clear that he is not part of the blessing distributed by Jacob to the Israelites. Since the blessing is distributed by birth, it is not possible for Jesus to partake in the blessing not to talk of being a giver or distributor of the blessing. Therefore the questions still remain; how did he become the seed of Abraham, the carrier, distributor and point of contact for us to partake in the blessing of Abraham? As we are moving from this point, we will be looking thoroughly into similarities between Jesus and Isaac. Though we have talked about it earlier on, what we have discussed so far is to prepare our heart for what is coming. So be ready, it is important we know these things if we don’t understand the depth, we will not understand how you and I are made the seed of Abraham. Hence we will sing “Abraham blessings are mine” without the understanding of what we are singing.

“Singing Abraham’s blessings are mine or knowing you are the seed of Abraham is not all you need to enjoy the blessing; there must be a perfect understanding of your connection to Abraham and his blessing”.

And it is very important to have the understanding of what we sing, let us continue.

“Accurate understanding of the word of God activates quick manifestation of whatever the word talks about”.

Before we look into similarity (ies) between Isaac and Jesus Christ, let us get to know the papa Ab that God actually gave the blessing through who Isaac and Jesus Christ inherited it. We could have bye – pass papa Ab here if the scriptures is still not mentioning his name in connection with the blessing.
