GRANDMOTHER

Such a great woman named Alice, God gave me as a grandmother,

She’s a woman who’s special to me, gives love to me like no other.

Through all my bad times, she’s always held on to my hand,

Even though I couldn’t get right, she could always see right through me.

I remember her favor saying was “Meka your head is hard, you know”,

I need you grandma; I’m sorry right now I’m living very low.

Let’s get together again, like we always did when I was a child,

If I had one wish right now, I wish I could see my grandma’s smile.

All the fussing you did helped me, they’ll be no more pain or hurt,

I refuse to let you die, and not see how your prayers worked.

I know that you forgive me for not acting like the child you raised,

If you could see the change in me today, it would have you truly amazed.

I’m going to get it right this time, so you’ll be proud at least,

Please don’t take my unconditional love from earth, the love that gives me peace.

I love you so much and I promise I wouldn’t wish for a better grandmother,

No grandma, I take that back I wouldn’t even wish for a better mother.

Dedicated to my grandmother, Ms. Alice Evans
