Start every prayer by blessing yourself. The usual ‘’In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen’’ will be fine.
Greet the Lord and introduce yourself. Say Good morning/afternoon/night my Lord, It is I, Your Name, from your town and country. Invite God to listen to your prayers and also confirm that God is always welcome in your life, Tell God that the door is always open.
Introducing yourself is very important. It will make you stand out from the crowd. Imagine you walk into a restaurant, stand in a queue with millions of other people and just shout out what you want to order along with everyone else. OK, they will prepare what you want but you are lost in the sea of people. ‘’Who ordered the meat loaf?’’ How many voices are going to stake claim to what is yours because there is no identity attached to it? Your order has been fulfilled but it has not reached its intended person. Then you become angry with the restaurant. You tell them you placed an order and did not receive it but yet they have the record that they did indeed fulfill the request but they notice that there was no name attached to it. ‘’Did you not hear us calling out this order?’’. ‘’Well I did, but several people ordered the same thing’’. That is not the restaurants fault, so much as it is not God’s fault for not fulfilling a nameless prayer because we just assume he knows who is talking and making requests. Be crystal clear. Cover all bases.
