Chapter Eleven

Are You Living As An Overcomer?

I have been committed to living an overcomer’s life since the time I was called by the Lord to be a prophet. An overcomer is a person that has been through various trials and has subdued the enemy. If you think that I have written this book without a testimony, you will soon understand that every prophet has to have a testimony to be able to grow in the Lord and abide in obedience to Him. It is a life of constantly leaning on the Lord for nurturing. I have had attempts on my life, been homeless, been mocked, been rejected, and maligned as a mad man! If you are desirous of being an overcomer in the world, then you have to call on the name of the Lord in your current situation. A person who has been called to be a prophet is always called to go through the same trials that I had to go through. This is why it is the highest calling in ministry. Are you a prophet or do you prophesy under the anointing of the Holy Ghost? There is a difference between the office of the Prophet and the Spirit of prophecy. The office of the prophet has the Lord in the office as the Prophet. The Spirit of prophecy is the Holy Ghost who is God. If you are prophesying under the anointing of the Holy Ghost, it does not mean that you are a prophet! You might even have prophesied more than a prophet who is in the office of the prophet. A person that prophecies under the anointing of the Holy Ghost will not need to go through the trials that a person that is in the office of the Prophet has to go through. This is why the person that prophesies under the anointing of the Holy Ghost is not a prophet.

A prophet is not supposed to start a church. Any minister who has a church and yet calls himself a prophet has been deceived by the enemy. That minister is not doing the Lord’s will; he has concentrated on doing the enemy’s will. If you are in a church that does not have a prophet, the Holy Ghost will often anoint any believer to prophesy to the church, only for the edification of the church. If you are in a church and there is a person who is anointed by the Holy Ghost to prophesy, you need to test that person’s prophecy. If it is edifying the church, then that prophecy is from God. If that prophecy causes the church anxiety, know for sure that that prophecy is not from God. The enemy can also enable a person to prophesy using a deceiving spirit. This is what most people who are lacking in knowledge experience in the church. The Lord has raised up prophets that are in the office of the Prophet to ensure that the enemy does not deceive the church. If there is no prophet in a church, that church will not have a direction and will be subdued by the enemy. That church will struggle to grow and progress. It is like an army that does not have a general! The Lord is the Commander-in-Chief of the army and needs His generals in position. If the army does not have a general, that army will lack strategy. It may be strong, well trained, skilled, but lacks that one officer that will liaise with the Commander-in-Chief to get updated on the overall battle plan. This is what a church that does not have a prophet is similar to. A prophet has to be an overcomer to be able to be trusted by the Lord. If a prophet has not overcome the world, that prophet is not able to be used by the Lord for His service. This is because that prophet will be enticed by the enemy to do his will. If that prophet has gone through trials and has subdued the enemy, he will not desire any of what the enemy will entice him with. This has been my experience for the last 8 years. The Lord has now elevated me to a prophet of God. What is a prophet of God? This is a prophet that has been tested by the Lord and has grown in obedience to Him. Earlier, we learnt that a prophet that prophesies in metaphors is called a prophet from the Lord. When that prophet is elevated by the Lord to become a prophet of God, he will stop receiving metaphors from the Lord. This simply means that the word that the Lord speaks will not need to be interpreted! The Lord may now speak directly. This is what happens when a prophet has become an overcomer!

A prophet is a minister in the church. If a church has a prophet, that prophet should not take on a pastor’s role. That prophet’s role is to give guidance to the pastor of a church on what the Lord’s will for that church is. If there is a prophet in your church and that prophet does not speak the Lord’s mind concerning that church, then he is not a prophet of God. If that prophet has been speaking the Lord’s mind concerning that church, then he is a prophet of God. If a prophet only speaks to people individually, then that prophet is not from God. He is being used by the enemy to sow anxiety. It does not mean that a prophet should not speak the Lord’s mind to people individually. If that is what he is solely doing, he is not from God. A prophet that speaks individually to people will always speak the Lord’s admonishment upon those people to caution them on doing the Lord’s will. If the Lord sends a prophet to a minister, it means that minister is not doing the Lord’s will; he is engaged in doing the enemy’s will. If you are a minister and a prophet comes to you with a word from the Lord, do not reject the Lord’s admonishment; listen to the word from the Lord and take heed to the Lord’s reprove. The Lord admonishes those whom He loves!
