We sat ourselves down on the blue, slightly torn couch which had large red pillows that were perfect for when you wanted to watch a long movie. It didn’t match but it really didn’t matter, it was comfortable, felt a bit arty and besides, I wasn’t planning on living in that apartment forever anyway. I pressed play and the film began. It got to the part where Kate Winslet’s character ’Rose’ gets to see Titanic for the first time.

“She’s a hard one to please that one.” Chris said pointing at ’Rose’.

“She’s just frustrated.” “What? Like on her period?”

I gave him a dirty look before replying. “No, she feels trapped in her life, she’s not happy.”

“Yeah, must be a bummer being that rich.” Sarcasm in his expression. I sighed.

“You’ll see, just pay attention to the story line.”

He seemed to pay attention during the movie, just throwing out the odd sarcastic comment here and there, but that was just Chris in every situation. He couldn’t take anything seriously. I’d always thought it was a way of defense. Everyone had their own way of coping. He was never offensive though…well at least not on purpose.

It got to the part where the iceberg had just hit, and we both needed to use the toilet.

“It’s getting interesting now! He announced.

“Yep, you visit the little boys room first and I’ll fill up our glasses, then I’ll go and we’ll be all set for the action part OK?”

“It’s a plan!”

We both got up and did what we set off to do. When I was done I walked back to the couch and sat down. Chris looked over at me.
