“You OK? You look like you want to say something.”

I was fidgeting with the corner of the cushion. Not really knowing if it was the best idea to tell Chris about my dream man Peter. But I had to talk to someone. I knew he wouldn’t tell anyone else and he was smart so I took a deep breath and looked up at him.

“I need to talk to you about something, and you have to promise not to laugh, because I know it’s gonna sound crazy.”

Chris looked serious. “Ok, the time has come.” He paused for a second and left me wondering what the heck he was gonna say next. “You’re in love with me. I know I’m irresistible but you’re going to have to contain yourself. It would totally ruin our friendship. It’s gonna be tough getting over this.” He gestured all over his body. “But as much as you want me, one day you will find a man…who won’t quite live up to me, but maybe, just maybe he can make you happy.”

“OK OK Mr, hardy har. Very funny.” I raised my eyebrows as he laughed. “You wish!”

“OK, seriously, what’s up.” He looked like he was actually paying attention this time.

“OK,” I took a deep breath. “The thing is, I’ve started having these dreams where I meet a man. It’s always the same man. We go on these adventures and he feels so real to me, as real as you sitting here now.” I looked down towards the cushion I was holding. “And the thing is, I feel like I’m getting these strong feelings for him and I don’t know what to do with that? I’m not crazy, I do realize it’s all in my head, but my feelings are real.”

He was quiet for a few seconds.

“Well, Alex, that is a pickle isn’t it. What about your new guy? What’s his name again?”
