“Hi Alex, how are you?” he said as he gave me a kiss on the cheek and gave me a hug.

“I’m good thanks.” I smiled back at him. Then I gestured to Lisa and Chris. “This is my roommate Lisa and you remember Chris from the other night right?”

Dave held out his hand to them both and acted like the proper gentleman smiling politely. He must have had a very ’proper’ upbringing I thought.

“Hello, very nice to meet you Lisa, Chris how are you my man?”

“Couldn’t be better. So when’s the band on?” “Should start at ten. At least that’s the plan.”

“I need to go check on the band and make sure they’re behaving, honestly, sometimes I feel like I’m babysitting.” He rolled his eyes and laughed and I laughed with him.

“OK, see you in a bit.”

“Yeah, the stage is just through those doors there, in case you haven’t been here before.” He pointed at the doors he had walked through earlier.
