ONE PRECIOUS MOMENT

As I lay comfortably on Rahul’s chest breathing in his embrace and love I heard the loud pop of the champagne bottle opening, I felt the tickle of the cold bubbly trickle down my back and Rahul drink on it (wow, what a feeling it was) bursting the pores of my body open in heat and passion.

When we each had a glass in hand we did a toast, with just three beautiful words “I LOVE YOU”. We sat there in the tub enjoying the champagne with just the soft sounds of our breathing and the quiet peace after the storm we had been through. I cannot say how long we sat or what made me just turn around and hold him but that’s exactly what I did. I could feel the calm spread through me, a feeling of coming home the moment I hugged him. These weeks had taught me one thing I rather fight with him than stay away from him. I only felt half alive and that’s not a feeling I ever want to feel again.

I practically squashed him with a hug, I had missed him like crazy these past few days. Then I started to kiss those warm precious lips with a need and passion I did not know I had in me (it felt like something had just burst free in me). Suddenly Rahul stood up holding me tight in his arms and got me out of the tub. We pat dried each other touching and feeling the emotions spreading through us. We just couldn’t get enough of each other. The need to keep touching and kissing where ever we could was like a fire running through us. All of a sudden Rahul lifted me in his arms but instead of taking me to bed as I hoped, he took me to our balcony garden. That is when I saw a bed spread out next to the dinner table (how did I miss that).

He lay me down on the soft mattress and started kissing me with those hungry lips of his. We were so engrossed with 83

each other that we did not care about our surroundings. Now that is where he made love to me all night, under the stars with candles burning all night, soft music in the background and the heavenly smell of flowers all around. Our hands, our lips and our bodies did not stop moving the whole night, the slightest touch from one another ignited us.

The passion we unleashed that night was indescribable.

Even though we were spent and tired we couldn’t stop touching one another (it felt like the very first time), in soft murmurs we spoke about our problems but were scared to break the beauty of our moment. It reminded me of the early days of our marriage but even then as far as I can think we never shared what we did that night. We did not let go of each other even in sleep, we stayed glued till the first ray of the sun fell upon us making us aware of the surroundings.

We could hear the world getting up all around us starting their day, but we had not only started afresh, we had found ourselves again. That one most beautiful gesture from Rahul broke the ice to the issue which now seemed so very trivial and insignificant. In that One Precious Moment Rahul and I not only found what we had lost in all the hustle bustle of life but we found the most important thing in life - EACH OTHER.
