Chapter 12: Aftershock

After breakfast, Tom had his daughter join him in his office. Cindi thought to herself, 'time to face the music,' as she followed him there.

She was shocked he was calm, instead of letting his anger out like normal. "I know how difficult it is to have your mate in reach and not complete your bond. I am proud that you have not gone there so far. I suggest trying to stay together in more public setting than showering or sleeping together because that helps control your wolves a bit more. Please do not disappoint your mother and me. Save your bonding and virginity for your wedding."

Normally, he would have yelled in alpha command, "stay away from your mate or get locked in your room." She would have done the exact opposite so now she is conflicted. At least, he seems to be okay with things.

She replies, "actually our wolves were more under control playing with each other's bodies, versus outside at his car, after our run yesterday. We know what is at stake and will keep them controlled."

Her dad states, "that is all we ask."

Shocked he is letting stuff go, she responds, "I promise we will be fine."

He hugs her and lets her leave the office. Kam is waiting in the hallway a few steps away from the door. He takes her hand and they head outside away from ears that can hear whispers. Stopping a distance into the woods.

He smiles, "that went better than I hoped."

Cindi responds, "sounds like he remembered his issues, with waiting to marry mom. First time, he did not use his alpha tone on me, when he was worried or angry."

Kam chuckles, "leading me to wonder is this the first time you actually listen to his demands or advice."

Cindi laughs, "it could have been, but I have to follow my heart, and for once he actually understood me."

He response, "I wish mine had that option. Sounds like our fathers treated us the same. Mine was planning on giving me a lecture because I interrupted his council. I could not kill the bear that killed him so felt it was important enough to interrupt."

Cindi frowns, "I am so sorry. Alpha's can be a pain to their children. Hopefully, we can do better."

Kam states, "kick my ass, if I come close to failing."

She laughs, "like I could."

He responds, "you could by sneak attack. If our kid screws up, we talk together with them in compromise mode with alpha tone and luna love.”
