Chapter 13: Mom

They head back towards the house to sit on the porch. Her mother, Amy, joins them.

Amy states, "he kept it quiet for a change. Was it reasonable?"

Cindi replies, "he was polite, kind, understanding, and actually listened."

Kam adds, "it was the best alpha 'you've been bad' conversation I have ever heard. I will not tell you how many of those I got to hear."

Mom laughs, "haven't we all. You do understand our concerns so we are trusting you.

"We went through a similar trial. Slightly longer and we failed. I was pregnant two months before my eighteenth. The wedding was moved up and my pack never got to celebrate my initiation so our concerns are valid, given the chances you are taking.

"That was my worst alpha lecture and he did at a full pack meeting so everyone heard it. Then, his dad did the same thing to him. Your dad will definitely go there and, since he is your only father figure, he will likely do it to you, Kam."

Cindi responds, "he would dare discipline his King."

Mom starts to reply and Kam interrupts, "I would deserve it so it would be his right, as my father in-law. Tell him that, if we screw up. My dad would definitely go there, if he lived."

Mom smiles at Kam, "do not make me have to."

Kam looks at Cindi, "you need to help me prevent it. I do not want to say no to you so you have to say it to yourself."

Cindi sticks her tongue out at him. "So it is all my fault."

Kam laughs, "it is my fault because I should say no with alpha command to prevent my mate from being bad. But, my wolf says yes so I am conflicted and can not command you."

Mom states, "as long as one of you says no, I will be happy." She gets up and goes back inside.

Cindi smiles, "she has always been the reasonable parent. But, now I know where dad anger and worry come from. I could feel his temper mentally, as normal during receiving his discipline. But, he actually cared enough to talk calmly."

Kam responds, "lunas always approach with love, while alphas with command. My grandfather was alpha for most of my life. My father only had the position for a year. My current beta is my father's brother. I am half surprised he has not attempted to replace me. He is better at the job and deserves it more.”
