Chapter 14: Coyote
Chris called Kam. "Manchester police arrested the dealers and suppliers this morning. Nobody is talking. They took them down during a resupply trade."
Kam informs both Cindi and Tom. The alpha states, "my luna informs me about your statement earlier so you can count on me making sure our packs both know, should it be necessary. They will also know it goes no further or both alphas will hold them accountable."
Kam smiles, "if it does go further, my kingship will be in jeopardy. I would support your replacing me to keep it in the family."
Dad laughs, "you can keep it. I will make sure you have the support needed. It is too much work dealing with those stubborn wolves. This is purely a family matter, not subject to their concern.
"Manchester has a coyote issue on going. You think you can invisibly protect Cindi as she handles it. I do not want some human seeing her and make the situation worst."
Kam replies, "she will know I am there. As long as that is okay, sure I can make any humans look at random noises, instead of her."
He chuckles, "that is what I was thinking. We will present her trophy at the wedding, when ever it happens. Normally, we only send proven warriors into the cities to hunt. First timers, fail to consider all possible outcomes. A wolf in the city will cause a huge hunt, as they are known to be pack animals so the rest must be near. Coyotes are known to be solitary at times so they are hardly looking. Its known kill is only a deer also in Manchester. They are assuming it chased the deer into the city and left, as it has been twelve days now without a sighting. But, I had it tracked so I know it is eating garbage downtown at night. It is just a matter of time before some young child becomes supper."
He has me send Cindi in. She comes out a little upset. "He had to go and piss me off. Here go hunt this animal two months early because I can not trust you will avoid becoming pregnant. Oh and take your mate with you because I can not trust you to avoid being seen."
Kam just hugs her and whispers, "it could have been worst. He could have sent you to my pack to perform a hunt there, while keeping me here. He is at least trusting us together. He is only preparing for the case we are as weak as they were, which I see as a possibility. We just barely avoided sex at my car yesterday. I am shocked nothing happened this morning. I know I can not repeat that safely and I never want it to stop."
Cindi groans, "you would have to be right." Smiling, she continues, "ruining my plan to seduce you here outside his office, where he can hear us.”
