Chapter 18: Moving

Kam drove his car with Cindi and her parents. They got on the interstate highway in Bow, going under the speed limit, until the New Hampton exit.

From there, they did a large circle of back roads to be sure nobody was following them. Before using the state highway roads, to reach the destination. Each leader knew to pick a large circle, before getting too close to the destination. Kam use one heading the wrong way from the interstate. He went past the circle start to take a different turn at the next intersection. From there, he headed back towards the state highway.

Forty minutes after exiting the interstate, he was almost back at the exit heading the correct way this time. You could see the exit from where he turned back on the state highway so almost two complete loops to guarantee no followers, as he knew too much information. Now, he went the quickest direction to the parking lot in Albany. None of the packs would use this interstate exit.

Kam's Lincoln pack did not use the interstate at all, just state highways through southern edge of Conway, missing its downtown area. Neither would the two packs north of Lincoln and the mountains. The Bethlehem pack closest to Lincoln would go through Bartlett on a federal highway before taking a state highway in Conway. The Colebrook pack way up north traveled through Berlin on state highways also going through Conway.

Of the three packs south of Bow. The Pelham pack in the center was the only one using the interstate, getting on in Londonderry and off in Tilton. This was the state officer's pack. The Lee one to east used a state highway following Maine state line north to Albany. The Winchester pack to the west used federal or state highways going through Concord and Wolfeboro. The Holderness pack between Lincoln and Bow also only used state highways going through Sandwich. All would travel through Tamworth, just like Kam did with the Bow pack.

Each level should hold all of the vehicles for three packs. The vehicles were parked bumper near bumper, as they arrive and leave together normally. Each pack has two rows reserved for their use.

The placement is based on pack status. Closest to the ramp is higher ranked than the others on the level, plus a higher level outranks lower ones. The top level has Lincoln, Bow, and Pelham. The middle level has Lee, Winchester, and Holderness. The bottom level has Bethlehem and Colebrook. Any extra vehicles that did not fit your pack's two rows could use the last two rows of the bottom level. Through a row could handle four buses so it was unlikely a pack would need more.

There was plenty of room for the buses turning corners. In fact, a bus could park between the ramp and the first row or between the front vehicle of the row and the wall, with its front not touching one end and its back not touching the other.
