Chapter 26: Questioning

Kam was the only one in the basement, when the bear woke up.

He stated, "you." He steps on the flat floor bar and screams. Jumping back to the mattress and touching the bars behind him. With a growl, he settles on the mattress.

Kam replied, "yes, Stuart. I am the one you wanted to find. All that destruction of property for nothing. Your daughter got bitten by a werebear that was created from an actual bear. She bit you and your wife. My only real question before I kill them is, who bit the rest of your gang: you or her?"

Stuart refuses to answer.

"Oh well. I just wanted to satisfy my curiosity. I can live without the answer. I assume you invited them to dinner and she couldn't resist biting them for you. She is definitely going to die, when I leave here."

He turns to leave, turns back a moment, "I have werebears too. Your daughter was the last human that bear got. But, it got forty others before her. They all joined my pack. Now, that you three are safely out of the way. I can capture the rest of your gang. Without a leader, it will be easy picking them off."

Stuart responds, "don't kill my baby."

Kam laughs, "why would I let that monster live?"

Stuart replies, "if you let her join your pack, I will answer all of your questions."

Kam smiles, "I definitely could do that, but I do not need your answers. I would have a hard time believing you told the truth."

Stuart states, "you're right she bit them."

Kam laughs, "like a big tough guy like you could bring yourself to bite other men. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, but how many did she convert and would have continued doing so, in the future, if I hadn't caught her."

Stuart replies, "there are thirty of us. Five woman like my wife and the rest men. Not all of them work for me. Just the twenty I attacked your pack with are in my gang, the rest were friends that she got accidentally before we knew what was happening."

Kam states, "you create a detailed list and any that are not gang members can join my pack."

Stuart replies, "I want to see my wife and child, first."

Kam laughs, "of course you do. But, that doesn't prove you got their safety. You do not trust anyone so will assume I am tricking you. I could have them sleep here in sight of you for years and you would still be unsure I won't kill them the moment I got your detailed list. Forget it. I will kill them all to be done with it and you."

Kam walks to and climbs the stairs. Meanwhile, Stuart is screaming, "don't hurt my baby," repeatedly.
