CHAPTER TEN

BE AN ELEVATOR

You might have had the opportunity to use an elevator some time or the other or you might have watched one being used. You would have seen the ease with which the elevator lifts people up and down very tall structures. An elevator makes what could have being a rigorous climb up an easy journey.

The marvel is an elevator. He knows how to lift people p and down. Because he is a huge success, everyone who associates with him also becomes a success. Anytime he is around, no matter how dark or downcast a person may be, he carries the light ambiance and lifts him up. He is huge enough to carry others on his shoulder.

Men like Bill Gates have such marvelous elevating attribute. They affect nations beyond theirs and influence lives, millions of them. Men of this attribute are scarce and there are only a few of them.

How do you become an elevator? You may think “I want to elevate people; I want people to believe in their capacity once they are around me, and I want them to discover their capability and capacity”. In a world where everyone looks for his gain, it takes only an elevator to sacrifice for the good of others

To be an elevator you must have to;

  • Enlighten people with the new possibilities that they are capable of carrying out. Knowledge is power but that power only arrives when knowledge is applied and shred. Do you want to elevate people? Teach them.
  • Loose people from their cloak of ignorance and poverty. Poverty and ignorance are like chains holding down many who would have gone ahead. The elevator offers his hands to lift other persons from this dual carnage. He lifts them up to wealth and wisdom
  • Exposes others to a higher order of knowledge that would have required personal experience to attain. This new knowledge makes reaching the top easy.
  • Value every person as having some incredible talent and gift that could be valuable to you. Everyone is valuable and inside everyone is a genuine gift. Those talents and gifts could be very valuable to you
  • Aspire for higher pedestals. Elevators take people up, so you have to have an eye for the top and walk towards it
  • Totally commit yourself to lifting people up. The elevator specializes in taking people up; you too must commit yourself to lifting people to a higher pedestal.
  • Overcome inertia. There are things out there that desire to see you drag from the purpose of elevating. You have to overcome those things. You have to pull yourself against the inertia forces that tend to fight against your movement up. That’s what an elevator does
  • Rescue. There are many persons who are on their way to doom and death but who you will have to lift them with your elevating attribute. These people are seeking for an opportunity to be lifted.

The marvel seeking elevating spirit encapsulates a man who will make a choice to be sacrificial in his personal dealings with people around him. It’s a people lifestyle requiring that those persons we see around us are affected by our lifestyle

Others don’t have to go through what we have gone through. They don’t have to go through difficult times when your hands are very well able to lift them up.

The missionaries who spent a good chunk of their time in Africa had to sacrifice everything they had. Many of them gave up comfort and sent themselves to jungles and the hinterland. The testimony that Christianity reached and covered Africa was a result of these sacrifices.

You never know what your elevating attribute can do, who it can lift and where your influence will be felt. Someone out there will be grateful that you made that giant move and decided to uplift one or two hands. You never know how many persons you will be lifting through the next hand you will touch.

When you have the chance to lift a person, do it with all the strength that you can garner. Be an elevator.
