CHAPTER FOURTEEN

WHAT’S YOUR VALUES?

A marvel is a man with his set of values. Values are guiding principles applied by a person to order his life and give him the qualities that he desires. Values could be negative or positive. When it's negative, it could lead to a vice with deadly aftermaths. When values are positive, they project the man bearing them to a brighter light.

There have to be some guiding principles that guide how you lead your life. Everyone has it just that the principles are not all the same.

The marvel is principled. He is guided by his convictions, the ones he thinks are right or wrong depending on how he views life.

Everyone in some way has some good and bad values from the personal experiences he has had. We learn to build our convictions and develop our core values based on our aspirations and drive to get there. It is amazing to know that we look like the values we project.

The marvel is a positive value personality. Though he may keep some negative values sometimes, he seeks often to propel in himself the right attributes. These attributes are actually the things that make up his value system.

There are numerous attributes that make up our positive value system. Hard work, perseverance, tenacity, encouragement, hope, motivation, inspiration are all positive values that marvels associate with.

These values are actually what make the marvel marvelous. When they showcase these attributes, it is because they are aware of their marvelous capacity and the qualities expected of them.

You need good values to associate you with your marvel seeking pursuit. This means there could be some bad ones too that could be detrimental to your marvel seeking pursuit. These bad values include lie telling, fear. Recklessness, frivolous talks, time wasting etc.

These attributes could be very detrimental to your pursuit. Incidentally, it could lead to a life of less than your true worth and value, the marvelous life.

The marvel seeking man often holds on to good values that are easily seen and recognized. He lives for these values and acts in such a way as to become these values. You might have heard some statements made in respect of certain persons, statements like “Mr. C is an epitome of hard work.” Well, the marvel becomes his values that when examples of these values are being looked for, he is not too far away.

The marvel often seeks to protect his hard earned image. He projects his personality in such a brilliant light that even when he has faults, everyone looks at the light and away from the faults.

Do you want to be a marvel right? What are the values you have inculcated? What quality are you known for? Are they good or bad ones? Many would-be marvels have had their stint tarnished by one act of frivolity.

Marvels (would have been) such as Balotelli who would have taken over the world of soccer lost their place due to their inability to develop good values alongside great footballing talents.

Yes, one might be talented but what is needed is virtues, values to guard the talents. When value adds with talent, there is a massive explosion into a marvelous figure.

If you’ve not developed values that could sell you, you may want to think about taking classes on values. How do you create your values? You create values by;

  • Learning to VOLUNTEER yourself for causes other than yours. Learn to do task that you won’t get paid for but which you will put in all your zest and energy to see it get done
  • Learning to ACCEPT sacrifice. You need to sacrifice. Sometimes you will need to give up what you so treasure to help someone become better than they were. There are many out there who have no meals. If you can sacrifice just one meal for them every day, they’d ever be grateful to you.
  • Learning to LOVE in spite of how the people are, what they do and who they are. Love is so important a virtue that it is projected only by the man who understands what the marvelous life is.
  • Learning to UPLIFT other persons who are not as high as you are with kind and motivating words. You may not have so much but your little words of upliftment could be all you need to be a blessing to others.
  • Learning to EXERCISE your commitment to be useful to the world outside your immediate box. The world needs people who would be committed to changing lives in the little way they can.

Your values speak volume of you especially to people outside your immediate sphere who quantify and measure how much you have affected their lives by the little things you have done. Let your values speak.
