Heat Stroke is a Medical Emergency, if the person becomes unconscious or has a seizure Call an Ambulance Immediately
Signs and Symptoms of Heat Stroke
- Body Temperature 40 degrees or above
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Not sweating despite the high temperature
- Hot, red and dry skin
- Muscle cramps or weakness
- Nausea and vomiting
Treatment
- DRSABCD
- It is important to cool the person down. Move them out of the sun.
- Remove any excess clothing
- Put them in a cool tub of water or in the shower, spray them with a garden hose, sponge them down, place ice packs wrapped in a cloth or cold wet towels around the person’s head, neck, armpits and groin.
- If the person’s condition worsens seek immediate medical assistance
